MachineBuilding is edited by Jonathan Severn, who has a degree in engineering from Cambridge University and many years of experience as a designer of special-purpose machinery and automation. In 1994 he joined the editorial team at Industrial Technology, the UK's largest design engineering magazine, becoming Machine Building Editor in 2000.
In 2004 he was the launch editor of Industrialsafetytalk, which became one of the most comprehensive online sources of industrial health and safety information. After leaving Industrialsafetytalk in 2006, he launched MachineBuilding.net.
