Automation Supplies has delivered a Dorner AquaPruf LPZ series stainless steel elevating conveyor system to a customer in the food industry that was previously losing production by having to spend hours cleaning a bucket and chain conveyor system.
One of Automation Supplies' clients had an old conveyor that used a bucket and chain system to move ingredients through the plant. However, buckets and chains make excellent breeding grounds for bacteria, and cleaning this system to the required levels for the food industry was consuming valuable man-hours and reducing the time available for production. So the company asked Automation Supplies to come up with an alternative: an easy-to-clean stainless elevating belt conveyor system that also had to negotiate a 23-foot rise in elevation at a 60-degree angle.
Dorner engineers recommended the AquaPruf LPZ series stainless steel elevating conveyor system. Thanks to its configuration versatility, the AquaPruf LPZ made short work of the steep rise in elevation with no expansion of the existing system footprint. AquaPruf's FDA-approved Mol Industries solid urethane belt is easy to clean and works well in wet or humid environments, with no hinges or pins that might harbour bacteria. Like all AquaPruf conveyors, the belt is easily replaced and major components can be removed without the need for specialist tools or knowledge.
Now the company's production is well within recommended sanitation guidelines. Less time is being spent cleaning, and more time producing nutritional bars.
