[Re: Regulation 6 of the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003]
MachineBuilding.net does not itself rely on cookies for any purpose.
The following are all hosted locally and under the control of MachineBuilding.net, not under the control of any other company or website:
MachineBuilding.net uses Google Analytics to analyse the use of this website. Google Analytics generates statistical and other information about website use by means of cookies, which are stored on users' computers. The information generated relating to our website is used to create reports about the use of the website. Google will store this information.
Google analytics sets the following four cookies, summarised here:
|__utma||Used to determine unique visitors to a site and updated with each page view. This cookie contains a unique ID that Google Analytics uses to ensure the validity and accessibility of the cookie as an extra security measure||Two years from set/update|
|__utmb||Used to establish and continue a user session. When a user views a page on the site, Google Analytics attempts to update this cookie. If it does not find it a new one is written and a new session is established.||30 minutes from set/update|
|__utmc||For backwards compatibility. Expires when browser session ends||Not set|
|__utmz||Stores the type of referral used by the visitor, whether via a direct method, a referring link, a website search, or a campaign such as an ad or an email link. It is used to calculate search engine traffic, ad campaigns and page navigation within your own site. The cookie is updated with each page view.||6 months from set/update|
These cookies will exist for every browser which supports cookies that you have used to visit MachineBuilding.net.
You may at any time use browser features to prevent the placement of cookies by websites, but in many cases this will seriously affect their usability. Note that your experience when using MachineBuilding.net will not be affected if you choose to prevent placement of cookies.
Rather than develop a set of options for not placing cookies on your computer for every browser (which would have to be stored on each of your computers in a cookie for every browser you have used to visit) MachineBuilding.net is instead in the process of developing out the need for cookies altogether.
