Kistler is showcasing its latest plastic injection-moulding, assembly and testing measurement solutions for the MedTech industry at the 2025 MD&M West show. The products help manufacturers to achieve a zero-defect production throughout the manufacturing value chain, from part production to final assembly.
Kistler's piezoelectric sensors and systems are designed to record the critical process elements of force, torque and pressure directly in the injection-moulding tool or during the assembly process. This enables the systems to detect even the smallest of defects in real-time and to reliably predict the quality of the process.
Kistler's innovative solutions featured at MD&M West include:
ComoNeo 7.0 for zero-defect production
The new version of Kistler's ComoNeo process monitoring system, ComoNeo 7.0, offers a number of new software updates: The Multiflow 2.0 update ensures optimal filling of multi-cavity moulds thanks to a newly developed self-learning algorithm. It automatically adjusts the filling of each mould individually during the moulding process. As a result, it enables a consistently high level of quality over numerous cycles regardless of batch variations, bringing ComoNeo 7.0 users closer to zero-defect production. Among further updates that improve the software's user friendliness, ComoNeo 7.0 also allows injection moulders to monitor the melt cushion and to find the perfect balance, ensuring every mould is flawlessly filled while minimising material waste.
Michael Prisby, senior application engineer at Kistler, will demonstrate the process monitoring system ComoNeo in action at Sepro Group's booth #4201 as part of a Kistler partnership with Sepro and Milacron. The full display is a high-precision injection-moulding robot solution for medical and pharmaceutical applications. The Roboshot injection-moulding process is equipped with a ComoNeo system using several in-mould cavity-pressure sensors to determine, among other things, the switchover point for good part/bad part discrimination and to improve process control.
AkvisIO 7.0 integrates more sources for data management
The leading data management platform for injection moulding processes, AkvisIO 7.0, has been enhanced with a powerful new update. The software consolidates and documents injection-moulding data from various sources - ComoNeo being one of them. Thanks to new interfaces, the latest version of the AkvisIO supports the Euromap 77 standard which makes it possible to integrate even more sources. Additionally, it is now able to visualize multi-component processes while a histogram feature makes process trends visible over a longer time span.
maXYmos BL - 5867C for improved process monitoring
Kistler's latest addition to the maXYmos product family brings significant improvements to the monitoring of complex testing and assembly processes and the assessment of product quality. The larger, capacitive display of the maXYmos BL - 5867C combines better readability with improved ease of use. The new USB port enables convenient transfer of backup/restore data and storage of recorded measurement data, while also supporting barcode readers. Also new are licenses that extend the device's functionality into new areas: access protection with individual user groups, IloT connectivity via OPC UA as well as a sequencer mode to support integrated process control.
Handheld charge amplifier 5811A mobile measuring Instrument
Kistler's game-changing, versatile handheld charge amplifier with integrated data acquisition can be used wherever mechanical properties are measured with piezoelectric sensors. These mobile measuring instruments enable users to compare and verify the data from various sensors they operate in situ, without dismantling them, saving time and resources. It can be used for monitoring transmitters, Kistler IO-Link devices or any sensor with +/- 10 V analogue output. The handheld charge amplifier records the measured values and visualises the measurement curve on its integrated touchscreen.
Further Kistler solutions shown at MD&M West include servopress joining systems with integrated process monitoring capabilities for half- or fully-automated production lines and vision inspection systems for 100% part testing across sizes and materials. Kistler also offers calibration of sensors and measurement chains according to ISO 17025 in its certified labs.
