igus will be exhibiting on stand C36 at the 2007 Machine Building show. The company will promote its latest stainless steel linear guide, wear-resistant Energy Chain and a range of harnessed drive cables.
igus has developed a stainless steel version of its DryLin W linear guide especially for corrosive environments. DryLin W Stainless was designed principally for the food process and packaging industries and for chemically-exposed and underwater applications. The rails are made of V4A high-grade steel (316 Ti) and therefore offer exceptional resistance to corrosion, plus they withstand attack from many different chemicals and are resistant to temperatures up to 250degC. Furthermore, the guide system needs no lubrication and so does not require any form of maintenance during normal operation.
igus has also recently launched its magnetic LeviChain, which 'floats' in a magnetic forcefield and is therefore almost completely wear-proof. This model of Energy Chain is designed to guide and protect cables moving over long distances and has potential applications in cleanrooms, medical engineering, measurement engineering, automotive paint plants, industrial robots, electronics manufacturing, materials handling and linear motors.
Pre-harnessed drive cables
igus now provides harnessed drive and measuring systems and sensor cables for Fanuc drives in three different mechanical load qualities and in any length. The company already supplies system cables for Siemens, Indramat and Lenze drives.
Users of servo drives are relying increasingly on pre-harnessed cables in machine and plant engineering. Chainflex cables are specially designed for particularly demanding dynamic applications where factors such as acceleration, length of travel and bending radius must be considered.
