Shenyang Machine Tool (Group) Co. Ltd (SMTCL) and EdgeCAM, a Planit Metals company, have signed a strategic partnership agreement through which SMTCL recognises EdgeCAM as its globally preferred CAM software to support its comprehensive range of metal cutting machine tools.

As a supplier to the automobile, military, aerospace and railway industries, SMTCL continually strives to provide leading technologies to its customers. As part of this expanding service, SMTCL investigated CAM software, seeking the best package to complement its range of machine tools. After an exhaustive search, SMTCL decided that EdgeCAM not only offered the best functionality but also high levels of support both in China and globally.

Mr Liu, executive director of the SMTCL Design and Research Institute, comments: "We are continually aiming to increase our machine tool market share and are now focusing on complementary products and services to improve our customers' manufacturing processes. The high levels of functionality, ease of use and powerful programming ability of EdgeCAM will satisfy our customers' requirements in CNC programming, especially with respect to our new advanced mill/turn, multi-axis and five-axis machine tools. This partnership will also benefit SMTCL in new research opportunities and joint promotions."

Worldwide sales director for Planit Metals, Steve Sivitter, adds: "We greatly appreciate and value our co-operation with the biggest machine tool company in China. Our partnerships both with SMTCL and other leading machine tool companies illustrate why EdgeCAM maintains its position as a global leader, particularly in the field of complex production machining. EdgeCAM and SMTCL recognise the importance of investing in research and development and providing customers with a well integrated and proven CNC and CAM solution backed by best-in-class levels of service and support."
