More than 500 new fasteners were on show for the first time at the last Fastening & Assembly Solutions Exhibition, and the show’s organiser, NewbyCom, is predicting that even more will be revealed for the first time at the next event taking place at the National Motorcycle Museum, Birmingham, on 23 October 2008.

NewbyCom MD Mark Newby states: “Every single one of the hundreds of new fasteners seen at this show has a history behind it. And often that history includes an end user, usually an OEM, approaching a supplier and asking if specific enhancements can be made to an existing product. Unsurprisingly, once these changes have been made and trialled, the suppliers find that they have a new proposition on their hands that could be good news in a variety of applications outside of the one it was originally designed for!”

Multiplying this by the 500 new types on show reveals an industry that is at the forefront of product development in the drive to reduce costs and open up new ideas in manufacturing.

The Fastening & Assembly Solutions Exhibition is the only UK show for OEMs seeking to improve their fastening practices. Qualifying pre-registered visitors benefit from a free pass to visit the motorcycle museum, as well as a complimentary luncheon, served this time in the Manxman Suite. Show entry is free, as is parking at the venue. Easily accessed off the M42 (J6) right outside the NEC, the National Motorcycle Museum has proven to be an excellent and stimulating venue for the engineering and manufacturing community.
