Procter publishes updated Guide to New Machinery DirectiveProcter Machine Guarding has updated its Guide to New Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC following the publication of the official guidance by the European Commission at the end of 2009. While the official guidance extends to more than 300 pages and goes into great detail, Procter's guide runs to 16 pages and provides the right level of information for people who need to gain an understanding of what the new Machinery Directive means to the way they design machines, document the design process and handle the paperwork necessary for CE marking a machine. Furthermore, Procter's guide highlights the changes compared with the old Directive, which is very useful for people who are familiar with the old regime.

Available free of charge on request or as a download from the Procter Machine Guarding website, the fourth edition of the Guide to the New Machinery Directive expands on the advice it provides, taking into account the contents of the official guidance. In addition, the new version benefits from updated web links and more references in the section for Further Information.

The guide is aimed at not just machine builders, system integrators and manufacturers of partly-completed machines, but also machine specifiers and buyers, and people who are modifying machinery or building machine guarding.
