igus UK will be showcasing its high-performance triboplastic bearings, energy chains and cables at the International Armoured Vehicle show in Farnborough, on stand D38. Visitors to the stand will be able to see live demonstrations of its maintenance-free bearings as well as its energy chains and chainflex continuous-flex cables, which are suitable for dirty and dusty environments and are proven in military equipment.
One of the main highlights at the igus stand is its established range of iglidur high-performance polymer bearings which are lubricant and maintenance-free over their entire lifetime. The bearings give excellent friction and wear values and are resistant to dirt, water, chemicals and extreme temperature.
The insensitivity to dirt and ruggedness of the iglidur PRT slewing ring bearings, for example, can be complemented with stainless steel head rings, meaning it is reliable over a long service life. The bearing material offers a low coefficient of friction, as well as being resistant to chemical aggressors, and features low moisture absorption and good vibration dampening properties.
In addition, igus will be showing its range of energy chains, which are made from high-performance plastics – they are tough, resistant to corrosion and impact offering high UV, temperature and precipitation stability, over very long working lives, making them a cost-effective choice. The benefits provided by igus energy chains means that they are being widely adopted in military applications and, since plastic energy chains are much lighter than steel, their size is not self-limited by weight.
Complementing the energy chains are igus chainflex cables that are equally suited for operation in harsh military conditions. igus has been developing its cables for over 20 years and its chainflex cables have been designed with demanding moving applications in mind, giving reliable performance with high cycle rates, compact design spaces, and very small bending radii of up to four times the outer cable diameter.
chainflex cables are classified according to criteria for requirements, oil-resistance and travel distance. Manufactured from PVC, oil-resistant PVC and abrasion-resistant jacket materials such as PUR, and TPE for extreme loads, the cables are reliable with no core breakage or corkscrew damage, low wear, reduced space and weight. igus fibre optic cables have high durability, very high transmission rates and excellent EMC safety. From simple copper cables to ESD/ATEX cables and NFPA cables for extreme environments, igus has a cable for most military applications, for measuring systems, robot, servo, power, bus, data and control systems.
Experts from igus UK will be on hand to provide advice and guidance on selecting energy chains, bearings and cabling assemblies for your own specific application.
