The PPMA is running a Machinery Risk Assessment seminar on 13 March 2019. Other dates, venues and seminars are also available throughout the year - see the PPMA website for the full Seminar and Training Programme.
Attendees at the Machinery Risk Assessment seminar will find out if they are currently undertaking risk assessments correctly and whether they might be putting their company at risk.
Companies are expected to carry out machinery risk assessments not only when new equipment is designed, but also for existing plant that is in daily use - and particularly before machinery is modified.
Many people are used to task-based risk assessments but are unsure how to carry out the kind of detailed risk assessment that is required for machinery, process plant and assemblies of equipment.
This Machinery Risk Assessment seminar is intended for engineers who want to learn how to carry out risk assessment and safety professionals who are familiar with the concepts but need to learn how machinery risk assessment differs from other assessment techniques.
Topics covered during the day include:
- Background to machinery safety
- How machinery safety fits into the health and safety framework
- Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER)
- Risk assessment methods
- BS EN ISO 12100:2010
- Typical machine hazards
- Practical risk assessments
The Machinery Risk Assessment seminar takes place on 13 March 2019 at the Marriott Hotel, Northampton.
