Did you realise that EN 60204-1 (Safety of machinery. Electrical equipment of machines. General requirements) is not currently harmonised to the Machinery Directive? It was unexpectedly excluded when the list of harmonised standards was published in the Official Journal to coincide with Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC coming into force at the end of 2009. There was very little publicity at the time and, two months on, MachineBuilding.net asked CEN/CENELEC (the European standardisation committees) about the standard's status.

It transpires that EN 60204-1 was 'not ready to be published under the new MD (2006/42/EC) at that time' but steps are now being taken to get the list of harmonised standards updated to include EN 60204-1. You can read more about it in this article on MachineBuilding.net: EN 60204-1 not harmonised to Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC - and keep an eye on the website for further updates.
