Portescap, a Danaher Motion company, is launching the Portescap h3 stepper motor. When compared with similar stepper motors, these housed hybrid motors are claimed to provide industry-leading torque output with increased performance, improved heat dissipation and higher side and radial load capability. These 1.8-degree stepper motors are available in NEMA 17, 23 and 34 frame sizes. Various stack lengths are available in each frame size, and windings can be customised to suit individual application needs.
The h3 series offers several upgrades when compared with standard hybrid step motors. For example, the aluminum housing provides superior heat dissipation to create higher output torque during operation, and stator-enhanced magnets deliver up to 40 per cent more torque in the same footprint. Neodymium iron boron magnets offer optimised torque density, while the bearing retainer and O-ring help to reduce motor noise. Larger bearings enable the motor to effectively handle higher side and radial loads.
Dave Beckstoffer, Portescap Product Manager, says: "The Portescap h3 complements and completes our existing step motor offering, and allows us to help our customers make a better machine even faster with unparalleled depth and breadth of product solutions. The h3 is an ideal step motor solution in any number of medical equipment applications, and is also an idea solution in textile, semiconductor and electronic assembly applications."
Portescap is claimed to offer the broadest miniature motor product line in the industry, encompassing brushed DC, brushless DC, stepper can stack, geared, digital linear actuator, disc magnet and hybrid technologies. Whether it is the simplicity of the can stack, the direct linear motion of the DLA, the high acceleration of the disc magnet, or the power of the hybrid, Portescap products have been solving diverse motion control problems for more than 70 years. Portescap is a Danaher Motion company, a strategic platform of the Danaher Corporation.
