Anixter Components (formerly known as Heyco) is launching four new types of spring steel fasteners: U Nuts, J Nuts, Torque Nuts and Push-On Fixes.

All of these fasteners are cost-effective solution, providing OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) with a reliable and strong method of securing panels or sheets that would otherwise be incapable of accepting a thread. The fasteners are easy to install and, once in place, they resist vibration and shock loads and are excellent for applications such as machinery and domestic appliances.

The lightweight nuts are made from a single piece of steel and can be assembled easily and quickly onto a plastic or metal panel or sheet with one hand. Sheet thicknesses from 0.5-4.8mm can be accommodated, with thread sizes from No.4 to No.14 and M4 to M6.

With its U-shaped profile, the U Nut offer free-floating alignment with the screw to speed production. The J Nut has the same qualities in a J-shaped profile with a shorter lower leg; this is useful when part clearance is an issue. Torque Nuts are more robust and, once tightened, create a spring locking action on the screw to resist shock and vibration.

The Push-On Fixes are simply used to secure plain studs, rivets or tubing. They are pressed on easily and provide a positive bite on metal, plastic, or wood and will even grip firmly on very smooth hard surfaces. The range accommodates stud diameters from 2.31-12.75mm. In some cases the Push-On Fixes can prevent the shaft from rotating under light loads.

Anixter components says that there is no minimum order value for orders placed online and, when customers pay using a credit or debit card, there is a 5 per cent discount.
