Packaging controller now handles robot applications

Rexroth has simplified modular automation with the latest version of its IndraMotion for Packaging controller. Already precision-scalable in hardware and software, the controller family for pharmaceutical, food and packaging machinery now also boasts kinematics for robot applications. In addition, the drive and controller ensures synchronisation with conveyor belts, monitors protection zones and simplifies operation with teach-in functions.

IndraMotion's new robot functionalities give the user access to multi-axis kinematics, kinematic transformations, 0-point displacement and movable ramps. The integrated belt synchronisation for conveyor belts accelerates the incorporation of robots into the production flow and reduces the cost of production modifications.

The IndraMotion for Packaging industry system utilises the same software architecture and the same engineering tool - IndraWorks - in all hardware versions, whether drive, controller or PC-based. This simplifies the modularisation of machine concepts and slashes engineering costs. Predefined program templates, process-oriented technology functions and motion libraries enable the rapid implementation of decentralised automation tasks.

IndraWorks, the seamless engineering environment for all drives and controller variants, accelerates the configuration, commissioning and subsequent modification of automation solutions. In this all-in-one package, Rexroth is utilising the greater efficiency and additional communication options afforded by the new SERCOS III standard to deliver complete communication between controller and field level.

GenNext technology gives Rexroth almost limitless freedom to combine different drive and control technologies across co-ordinated interfaces with fine scalability.
