New low-cost three-axis digital compass moduleInertial Aerosystems is launching a new low-cost, three-axis digital compass module housed in a 9 x 9 x 1.9mm LCC surface-mount package. Manufactured by Honeywell, the HMC 6343 features heading/tilt outputs, hard iron calibration and a serial output interface. This innovative device combines three axes of magnetoresistive sensors and three axes of MEMS accelerometers with the required analogue and digital support circuits, and also includes the algorithms for heading computation.

Featuring low-voltage operation (2.7-3.6V), it is available in tape and reel packaging, making it suitable for fast OEM assembly.

The HMC 6343 is compatible with battery-powered applications and is RoHS-compliant.

This versatile product is suitable for use in mobiles telephones, consumer electronics, vehicle compasses and antenna positioning.
