Rugged pressure transducers feature extra-thick diaphragm

Gefran is launching a new TPFADA series of industrial pressure sensors for use with particularly dense or high-viscosity fluids such as oils, rubbers, pulps and chemicals where traditional transducers with an internal diaphragm are unsuitable.

Reliability in the harshest environments is ensured by an extra-thick diaphragm: the TPFADA series is based on the extensimetric measurement principle with a bonded strain gauge on stainless steel (INOX 17-4 PH).

The latest-generation electronics offer a wide choice of current and voltage signal outputs, and the innovative Digital Autozero and Span option provides quick and easy automatic zero setting after installation, with a touch of the magnetic pen supplied with the transducer.

An extra-thick diaphragm on the TPFADA series enables pressure measurement from 10-1000 bar in a wide range of models with a choice of electrical connections and threaded mountings. The compact sensors are suitable for use with abrasive media and work in temperatures up to 120degC. Gefran says it is the only company to offer the Digital Autozero and Span (no trimmer) option, which includes generation of the calibration signal (80 per cent FS).

Main benefits offered by the sensor are:

  • Simplicity and reliability
  • Sturdy steel diaphragm (with thickness up to 2.2mm)
  • Digital zero and span setting
  • Compact mechanical dimensions (26.5mm diameter)
  • Easy installation thanks to threaded mounting
