Micro-Epsilon product summary: string pot (draw-wire) sensors

Micro-Epsilon product summary: string pot (draw-wire) sensorsString pot displacement sensors measure the linear movement of a component by means of a wire made from highly-flexible stainless steel strands; this wire is wound onto a drum by a long-life spring motor. The measuring drum is axially-coupled with a multi-turn potentiometer, an incremental encoder, or an absolute encoder. As the wire is extended or retracted, the linear movement is transformed into a rotary movement that is sensed by the potentiometer or encoder.

For original equipment manufacturers of machines and systems, Micro-Epsilon delivers customised and adjusted sensors ready for integration.

Characteristics of string pot sensors include measurement ranges of up to 50m, quasi-infinite resolution, easy mounting, high reliability, long operating life, and a choice of analogue or digital outputs for easy interfacing.
