VEGA is introducing the Vegaflex guided microwave radar (TDR) level transmitter with a remote housing option. It uses a special cable (in standard lengths of 2, 5 and 10m - with longer lengths available on request) to connect to the housing that incorporates the electronics, programming and cable terminals. The process connection height is designed to be as small as possible, with a straight 'axial' and right-angled plug on each end of the connecting cable allowing the most suitable orientation to be selected, and enabling the unit to be installed in confined spaces.
This version (with rod or cable electrodes) is suitable for applications such as those where clearance or head-room is restricted on small vessels and bridles, or where housings may be damaged (eg on mobile tankers) if process vibration is anticipated. Ambient housing temperatures of up to 100degC can be tolerated, and the device can even be used where sensor electronics are in highly radioactive areas. This new version also has ATEX Gas Ex certification.
Standard features include: FDT/DTM, 4-20mA and HART protocol (Profibus and F options), integral device data logging, backlit display and programmer - as with all VEGA plics transmitters.
