Lenze is expanding its successful family of HMIs with the option of an integrated Soft-PLC. The EL100 range of touchscreen HMIs feature a standard Windows CE operating system and now can be supplied with an integrated Soft-PLC to the standard IEC 61131. This creates an overall package that is extremely economic, particularly as one device performs two functions, and is suitable for price-sensitive, compact machinery produced in high volumes.
EL100 touchscreens are available from 5.7-10.4inches and the Windows CE operating system, together with Lenze VisiWinNet visualisation software, speeds up the process of display programming. All six models can be selected with a low-cost option of a Soft-PLC running IEC 61131 standard languages. Compared to the pure visualisation panels, the EL100 PLC versions have twice the memory capacity, with 64MB flash and 128MB RAM. In addition, a maintenance-free UPS protects against short-term supply interruptions, and retained variables are saved on an integrated flash disc.
Interfaces on the EL100 displays are designed to be versatile and allow easy connection with host controllers and other devices. A CANbus connection suits other Lenze L-force components such as drives and I/O; an Ethernet connection suits programming from a PC. There are are also MPI, RS232 and USB ports.
By combining two automation products into one device, Lenze offers cost savings in terms of purchase price and simplified installation, plus machinery can be made smaller.
