2008 is set to be an important one for Master Chemical. A major launch of a metalworking fluid based on new technology is on target; in the meantime, however, the continuous development of established products continues apace, with the first of the new product introductions being the low mineral oil, semi-synthetic TRIM SC609.
The high-ester lubricant content of TRIM SC609 is said to allow machining performance and tool life similar to that of high-oil emulsions. Additionally it has the wetting and cooling characteristics of a premium synthetic for superior grinding results. Field trial reports have also shown it to deliver exceptionally clean running characteristics.
This latest addition to the TRIM range is a general-purpose machining coolant for ferrous and non-ferrous materials and is particularly effective in the machining and grinding of cast iron, steel and stainless steel. Aluminium alloys can also be machined effectively thanks to the high level of ester lubricants; the product does not stain these materials or yellow metals. As an extremely fine emulsion it reduces carry-off to ensure a lower total operating cost.
TRIM SC609 is a highly versatile product that works well in a wide range of operations including grinding, milling, turning, drilling and tapping. It has been formulated for maximum stability against bacteria and fungus and is extremely tolerant of hard water. Superior corrosion prevention is assured thanks to fast wetting that quickly and effectively coats the workpiece and chips.
True to the TRIM ethos, this new semi-synthetic contains no DEA, boron, chlorine, sulphur EP, nitrites or phenolic compounds. It is easily recycled or disposed of without special handling or equipment.
