Helical Flexures compensate for high angular misalignmentAbssac is promoting its Helical Flexures that can accommodate up to 90 degrees of angular misalignment while simultaneously compensating for axial and parallel shaft misalignments. This is achieved from a one-piece component that delivers perfect synchronism between the input and output shafts.

Most flexible shaft couplings rely on a number of moving parts to enable the transmission of torque through a high angular offset. However, the Helical Flexure is an elegant one-piece alternative that is machined from solid.

The performance capability of each coupling is determined by six major characteristics: outside diameter, inside diameter, coil thickness, material, number of coils, and the number of starts. By altering these characteristics, torque capacity, angular and parallel misalignment capabilities it is possible to modify the torsional and lateral bending rates to suit specific specifications and/or requirements.

Helical Flexures are manufactured from stainless steel as standard so are suitable for medical, food processing or any clean room environment applications.
