Sensor-Technik UK is now offering the Wachendorff OPUS A3s CAN-bus HMI, which is the mid-range model in the OPUS A3 series. Designed for cost-sensitive applications requiring extended functionality, the A3s combines a high-resolution colour display with a rotary encoder, three fixed function keys and eight softkeys to offer excellent flexibility in controlling CAN-bus systems, particularly in off-highway and agricultural machinery.
The compact and stylish operator panel is based on a powerful 32bit i.MX processor running at either 400 or 533MHz; it features a 4.3inch wide-screen TFT display and comes with two CAN-bus interfaces, one serial port and a USB interface. A second USB port is available as an option on the front of the panel. Further I/O options include Ethernet, four analogue or digital inputs and three digital outputs. Optional composite video inputs enable monitoring of reversing cameras.
Supplied as a fully enclosed standalone unit or for in-dash mounting, the rugged OPUS A3s CAN-bus HMI is sealed to IP67 and operates over a wide operating temperature range of -30 to +75degC. The display can be programmed to operate in either landscape or portrait mode, offering further versatility.
The unit can also be supplied with a resistive touchscreen interface. Other user interfaces include a single multicolour LED, three separate status LEDs and a 65dBA piezo buzzer for audio alarms that can easily be heard over loud machinery.
The OPUS A3s offers a choice of programming methods to suit systems designers of all levels of expertise. These include: the company's own Windows-based Projektor-Tool project development software; the popular CoDeSys IEC 61131-3 compliant user interface programming language; and, because each A3s is based on an embedded Linux operating system, they can be programmed directly in C/C++.
