SMC series pressure sensors with CANopen interfaceVariohm EuroSensor is introducing the SMC series pressure sensors with a CANopen interface. These sensors are suitable for high-accuracy measurement of pressures up to 2000bar in a compact and robust IP67-rated stainless steel design based on the 22mm hexagonal industry standard. The CANopen protocol ensures straightforward industry-standard commissioning with interfacing to CAN 2.0A or optionally CAN 2.0B, and the 1Mbit/s data rate ensures fast update pressure measurements.

The economically priced SMC series is available in over 20 standard measurement ranges with generous overload and burst pressure ratings that ensure high safety and reliability. With a media temperature range from -40 to 125degC and temperature coefficient compensation between -20 and +85degC, the overall measurement accuracy is within 0.05 per cent and repeatability better than 0.1 per cent.

A fully-welded stainless steel casing uses an encapsulated thin-film sensor technology that does not rely upon a transmitting media and, as a 'dry' measuring cell, is suited to applications where leakage would be problematical.

Rugged construction

With a shock rating of 1000 'g' and vibration to 20 'g'', the rugged transducer can be used for gas and liquid pressure measurement for hydraulics and pneumatics as well as general industrial applications in air conditioning, environmental engineering, agriculture, automotive, process control and elsewhere.

The SMC series sensors are supplied in two- and three-wire connector versions for M12, M5 and integrated Y-piece, with pressure connections available in G1/4 A and B, G1/2 B and 1/4 NPT. Customisation of accuracy rating, pressure connections and connecting options is available on request.
