New high-performance digital MEMS single-axis rate sensorsETLG Inertial is introducing the Systron Donner Inertial (SDI) SDD3000 high-performance digital quartz MEMS single-axis rate sensors for demanding military and commercial applications. The three models in this new range have bias of 1, 3 and 10deg/hour, with calibration required only every 20 years.

The sensor is based on SDI's proven quartz MEMS sensing element combined with advanced digital signal processing (DSP) technology; together these are claimed to deliver excellent performance noise, bias stability, scale factor, linearity and vibration rectification. Able to deliver an angle random walk (noise) of 0.01deg/√hr (which is claimed to be unprecedented) and exceptional stability compared with other MEMS-based gyros, these innovative products are suitable for stabilisation and precision pointing applications, as well as instrumentation, motion sensing and GPS/AHRS integration.

Angular rate and BIT data are output continuously from the SDD3000, and each device comes with two standard connection protocols, RS-232 or RS-422, and data rates of 600HZ or 100HZ. Input voltage is 11-16V DC and the operating temperature range is -55 to +85degC.
