ifm electronic is introducing the DTE100 RFID evaluation unit with an integrated Profibus-DP interface. Also featuring a web server, the new ifm RFID system platform can be used in production to track tooling, for quality assurance such as for electronic route cards, in assembly/handling technology for the automotive industry and in conveying for part tracking.
A compact device in a robust housing, the DTE100 is suitable for installation directly on the machine. It acts as the evaluation unit for up to four attached RFID antennas and transmits the data collected via the Profibus-DP interface. Set-up and integration into the higher-level automation/process control is uncomplicated, and program examples are supplied.
The four connections are multi-purpose, so where only one or two RFID antenna inputs are needed, the ports can easily be used as standard digital inputs or even as an output. The range of available antennas also makes any identification task easy, with systems for different read/write distances and data rates. The range covers includes not only LF transponders with up to 2kbit memory but also HF transponders with a 16kbit FRAM version that can be rewritten an unlimited number of times.
All connections have industry-standard M12 connections. Power is supplied directly via an M12 connection, and to simplify wiring the antennas are supplied from the DTE100.
This RFID system features a robust IP67 housing and a broad operating temperature range, thereby meeting the requirements of harsh industrial environments. The comprehensive accessories such as Profibus connection cables and terminating resistors further facilitate the system set-up.
These additions increase ifm's RFID system offering, from the DTE125 AS-interface-based system using 125kHz, to the DTE800 UHF system for larger systems and now the DTE100 with either 125kHz low-0frequency or 13.56 high-frequency antennas and Profibus-DP.
