High-speed, high-sensitivity dual linescan camerasPiranha 4 dual linescan cameras offer high line rates up to 140kHz, a choice of resolutions, and pixel sizes of 10 um or 14 um to maximise sensitivity. High-performance CMOS sensors also offer high dynamic range, making Teledyne DALSA’s Piranha4 family, available from Stemmer Imaging, suited for demanding applications. These include flat panel inspection, printed circuit board inspection, solar cell inspection and narrow and wide web inspection.

Piranha4 monochrome cameras make use of Teledyne DALSA’s dual line scan technology featuring two parallel arrays of pixels to provide twice the sensitivity compared with single line systems. The versatility offered by the new CMOS sensors utilises larger pixel size for the higher line rates to ensure no loss in sensitivity. Integration time and line rate can be adjusted to suit the application. There are 1K and 2K resolution versions with 14 um pixels and a maximum line rate of 140kHz. 2K and 4K versions are available with 10um pixels and a maximum line rate of 100kHz. 4K and 8K versions are available with 7um pixels and a maximum line rate of 70kHz.

Piranha4 colour versions are available at 2K and 4K resolution with a maximum line rate of 70kHz, and a new 8K version has been introduced with line rates up to 50kHz. The 2K version features a trilinear colour sensor with 14um pixel pitch, and the 4K version features a trilinear colour sensor with 10um pixel pitch. They are offering several output format options to meet different imaging requirements. The 8K version features a bilinear colour sensor which offers several colour output format options, including RGB, RG/BG, or G only to meet different imaging requirements.

The Piranha4 is built for the real world with features to ease system integration. An advanced GenICam-compliant user interface makes it easy to set up and control camera parameters such as exposure control, FFC, white balance, gain, test patterns, diagnostics and more. Precise sensor alignment across X/Y/Z axes allows reliable, optimised performance in multi-camera systems.
