Mouser Electronics, Inc. is now shipping the PAN1740 Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) Module from Panasonic. The PAN1740 is a single-model Bluetooth module that reduced form factor and significantly lower power consumption with a fully shielded case that includes an integrated chip antenna and on-board crystal oscillators.
The Panasonic PAN1740 Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) Module is a member of Panasonic’s “Nanopower” family of second generation Bluetooth Low Energy modules. These new modules reduce power consumption by more than 66 per cent when compared with the current generation of Bluetooth low Energy devices. Power consumption is 90 per cent less than Bluetooth Classic devices.
Panasonic’s PAN1740 draws only 5mA in transmit or receive mode, allowing the use of coin cell batteries with no reduction of signal range or transmit power while still keeping to the Bluetooth BLE specification. It boasts a small footprint of only 9 × 9.5 × 1.8mm. Receiver sensitivity is -93 dBm and output power is up to 0 dBm. The PAN1740 module includes an embedded BLE stack and Generic Attribute (GATT) Profile. There are two internal crystal oscillators and an integrated antenna, reducing component count.
