Mouser Electronics is now stocking the 2SMPB-01-01 Absolute Pressure Sensor from Omron Electronics. Based on Omron’s MEMs technology, this highly accurate, small size absolute pressure sensor can measure altitude, atmospheric pressure or water depth, and can detect height differences of as little as 50cm. The sensor provides pressure accuracy relative to a perfect vacuum to +/-0.06Pa, and absolute pressure accuracy in the range –400 to +400Pa, making this product Omron’s most accurate pressure sensor to date.
Omron’s 2SMPB-01-01 Absolute Pressure Sensor can operate in three different power modes: standard, high-accuracy and low-power mode. An I2C interface allows for easy integration into most digital electronics systems. The sensor uses piezoresistance in a full bridge circuit to detect pressure, and requires just two pins to measure differential voltage. This differential voltage output is directly proportional to the measured pressure. Since the voltage is a linear function of the pressure, writing embedded code for the 2SMPB-01-01 is very easy for most microcontroller-based systems. The 2SMPB-01-01 includes a built-in 24-bit, low-noise analogue-to-digital converter (ADC). Each device is factory-calibrated, with the calibration parameters stored in non-volatile one-time programmable (OTP) memory.
The 2SMPB-01-01 has a power consumption of 9uA typical, and is fully temperature compensated with an absolute temperature accuracy of +/-2degC. The low power consumption of the 2SMPB-01-01, along with its compact 3.8mm × 3.8mm × 1.0mm size, makes it suitable for use in a variety of portable low-power battery-operated electronic systems, including wearable electronics, activity monitors, industrial and marine instruments, mobile phones and cameras.
