CAN in Automation (CiA) GmbH is scheduling a CANopen seminar in Birmingham (UK) for May 27th 2009. The event will take place in the Novotel in Birmingham, running from 9am to 5pm and will be held in the English language.

During the one-day seminar the CiA trainer explains the basics of the CAN-based higher layer protocol CANopen (EN 50325-4). The information provided in the Seminar will enable development engineers and system integrators to judge if CANopen is suitable for their application. Attendees will gain a comprehensive insight into the technical opportunities of the basic and additional protocols (e.g. CANopen Manager, Layer Setting Services, CANopen Safety). Important aspects of system design will be demonstrated. The CiA trainer will also explain the CANopen device and application profiles that enable to manufacture devices with a high degree of "plug-and-play' capability. Furthermore multi-level networking is considered. Well-specified applications such as CANopen-to-CANopen-routers, TCP/IP-to-CANopen-gateways and CANopen-to-AS-interface-gateways will be discussed.

Attendees of the CANopen seminar should be familiar with the basics of the CAN protocol. Further information and online registration is available at www.can-cia.org or telephone +49-911-928819-0, or via e-mail to [email protected].
