AC induction motors are ATEX-approved for gas and dust

Huco Dynatork is introducing a new series of ATEX motors for use in explosive atmospheres. These aluminium-bodied induction motors are available for operation in Zones 1, 2, 21 or 22.

The EX models for operation in gas-laden atmospheres are available as 'increased safety' and 'non-sparking' versions, respectively for ATEX categories 2G and 3G with EX e and EX nA protection. Choices include single- or three-phase operation and single- or two-speed motors with outputs of 0.06 to 18.5kW.

In addition, the needs of ATEX categories 2D and 3D for safe operation in the presence of explosive dusts are met by a similar range whose versions either provide ignition protection from conductive dust (EX tD A21 IP65) or ignition protection from non-conductive dust (EX td A22 IP55). They may also be specified as single- or three-phase, single- or two-speed units, and with outputs of 0.06 to 18.5kW.

The motors are manufactured in an ISO 9001 environment and conform to the American and Canadian standards UL 1004 and CSA C22.2 no. 100-95.

Aside from the new ATEX-rated motors, other specialist AC motors available from Huco include motors with integrated frequency converters, waterproof motors and motors without ventilation.
