Avoiding downtime: buffer module for 48V applications

The Emparro Cap 20/48 buffer module replaces battery supported buffer systems. Because it operates with lifelong maintenance-free ultra capacitors, it does not require any maintenance. At full load, the Emparro Cap 20/48 provides a buffer time of 100ms and bridges most of the voltage drops caused by mains. If necessary, the buffer time can be increased simply by connecting any number of Emparro Cap 20/48 modules in parallel, thus reducing both planning and wiring efforts. This small investment pays off almost immediately as costly downtime is avoided.

Murrelektronik's high-performance Emparro Cap 20/48 does not require much space in the cabinet. With a width of only 50mm, it is claimed to be the slimmest 48V buffer module on the market. The spring clamp terminals (for wires with a cross-section of up to 10mm ²) ease installation. They also ensure a permanent connection with no tools required. Label plates and LEDs to indicate operating modes keep the cabinet organised during operation.

With its integrated signal contacts, Emparro Cap 20/48 is able to communicate with the other components or the control. The buffer module indicates the current charging state as well as when it is operating in buffer mode. By using the signal input, Emparro Cap 20/48 can be externally switched off and a forced discharge can be started.
