Backlash-free vertical actuators lift 150kg payload
Micromech is now offering a range of vertical actuators that are light, compact and self-supporting. They are constructed from a closed and therefore torsion-resistant aluminium profile that can withstand large side forces. Due to the generously dimensioned cast housing, this sturdy Z-axis actuator can accommodate vertical forces of up to 1500N.
The HZR actuators are available in three sizes - 50x50mm, 80x80mm and 100x100mm - all with a stroke length of 2m. Speeds of up to 5m/s can be achieved, as well as acceleration of 10m/s2, traction forces up to 2.2kN, and they can lift a payload of 150kg.
On each of three sides of the profile there are groove(s) for mounting tripping plates, limit stops and additional mechanical components. Cables can be fed downwards through the large opening in the centre of the profile and, at the lower end of the profile, there are four screw threads for suspending loads. The drive can be mounted on either side of the housing.
The stable cast housing with its closed frame structure can withstand very large side forces and bending moments resulting from horizontal acceleration, for example. An integrated cast flange ensures a stable connection to other mechanical components, such as a dual actuator system. High speeds and repeatability are guaranteed by a wide, slip-free timing belt drive, reinforced by steel tension cords. A wide area clamp ensures a secure connection between the (non-wearing and non-slip) toothed timing belt and the carriage profile.
Low-friction and backlash-free
HZR actuators use the latest type of plastic sheathed rollers mounted on roller bearings to ensure low-friction running. They can be adjusted by means of eccentric bolts so that the travel is backlash free. Very high side forces and moments can be applied due to the large roller distances in the stable housing. The backlash-free guidance is achieved by means of adjustable, plastic sheathed rollers mounted on roller bearings that are also maintenance-free and low-noise.
The tensioning station is used to set the required pretension of the timing belt; it is easily accessible and therefore simple to mount and maintain. The mechanical limit stops consist of stable, closed aluminium brackets, each with two rubber buffers that can be moved freely along the profile grooves and may be mounted on any side of the profile (except the toothed belt side). Mechanical or inductive limit switches can optionally be mounted on the covers of the upper and lower sides of the housing. A cylindrical limit switch (home sensor) may be mounted on the right or on the left side of the housing. The tripping plates are completely integrated into the profile grooves and can be located anywhere along the grooves.
