Bosch Rexroth has teamed up with the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) to host an Open House Day to inspire the next generation of engineers.
The event, which took place at the Advanced Manufacturing Training Centre (AMTC), Coventry, saw children between the ages of 8 and 15 attend along with their parents. During the day, attendees were shown the important roles engineers play creating products used in everyday life, alongside a wide range of engineering career opportunities available to them.
In addition to this, Bosch Rexroth ran a series of engineering challenges with practical examples for the children to build electronic and hydraulic circuits, where typical engineering concepts can be applied.
Andy Minturn, Business Development Manager at Bosch Rexroth, says: "It was great to see so many children interested and wanting to know more about engineering. The challenges proved a hit with the kids and parents alike, with some very keen contestants."
Alastair Johnstone, Managing Director at Bosch Rexroth adds: "These are truly fantastic opportunities for students, and events like this are a great way to showcase what modern engineering is all about. From our perspective, we were delighted to participate in this initiative and to be able, through the breadth of our activities, to demonstrate the variety, creativity, excitement and personal satisfaction that a career in engineering can offer.
"Frankly, it is only through raising awareness through events such as this, where we can showcase in a tangible way the fantastic career opportunities that we can offer to address the shortfall which currently exists between demand and supply - enabling us in turn to shape the future of our industry.
"The Engineering Open House Day is a truly great initiative, and we hope to have inspired a diverse mix of children to consider a career in the industry, and we look forward to supporting the industry in similar events in the future."
