HBM's new U93 compact force transducer can be used to measure tensile and compressive forces with nominal (rated) forces of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, and 50kN. Typical applications are force-displacement monitoring during press fitting, clinching or riveting, as well as press force monitoring - for example, during crimping.
Made of stainless steel and provided with a cable suitable for use on drag chains, the U93 features a small measuring displacement, high robustness and insensitivity to lateral forces. Flanges on both sides enable easy installation.
The U93 also benefits from TEDS (Transducer Electronic Data Sheet) technology. Used in conjunction with appropriate equipment, such as the digiCLIP digital amplifier or the MP85A press-fit controller, TEDS saves users time and money because manual amplifier setup is not needed, as the correct units and scaling are automatically used for measurement.
Force transducers are used for monitoring, for example, the rate of force rise, peak force or synchronous force-displacement curves during production. This real-time monitoring ensures consistent and high-quality manufacturing processes, hence reducing or totally eliminating costs associated with reworking or scrapping.
