New additions to the IEF Werner range of linear modules from R. A. Rodriguez promise to simplify design, save space and shorten assembly time. Its new linear units with spindle or toothed belt drives can now run two slides independently and, when equipped with linear motor drives, even more.
Two variants of its Module 160/15 provide these advantages. Module 160/15G has twin toothed belts driven by two motors. So, instead of adopting the traditional approach of two linear units assembled side by side, the system designer can now select a single, compact unit to do the job. And of course no adjustment is necessary to achieve synchronicity.
There is a significant space saving potential with this option, allowing a more compact overall system to be created. The linear axis is also equipped with integral collision protection so safe operation is assured.
The second variant, Module 160/15 GPA, offers similar benefit. With this new linear unit two gantry systems can be run in the same work envelope, allowing compact machine design. This is possible thanks to a parallel drive that operates both slide pairs separately.
This module will typically enhance the design and performance of automatic pick and place machines, transport lines and batching and bottling plants. Variation in motor assembly also allows considerable design flexibility.
