Curved aluminium profiles are functional and aesthetic

MiniTec UK is now supplying custom-formed profiles from its Profile-System range for applications where curved or rounded machine frame elements may be required for reasons of function or aesthetics.

The profile bending service is available for structures such as machine guards that need to exactly fit a machine perimeter, specialised frames, curved roller conveyors, rotating structures, handrails and many other functional or decorative applications.

Full CNC-controlled bending achieves a tolerance of +/-1mm on a selected range of extruded aluminium profiles with sections from 19 x 32mm to 45 x 90mm. A minimum bend radius between 250 and 1000mm is possible, depending upon the cross-section of the profile and the bend direction.

The bending process is carried out on existing anodised Profile-System stock and does cause a small degree of surface imperfection over the bend area. For most applications this will not affect the corrosion resistance of the material, but re-anodising is possible for decorative applications.

In addition, the T-slot grooves in the Profile-System are unaffected by the bending process (though for power-lock fasteners, the bend radius should be limited to a minimum of 400mm). Other fixing elements may be used for smaller radii.

The comprehensive MiniTec Profile-System range covers a wide selection of cross-sectional profiles to match load characteristics and layout requirements for machine frame applications for bases, covers and guards for single machines or complete assembly lines. Comprehensive on-line and PC based software is available to allow designers to view, examine and download 2D or 3D CAD files for profiles and ancillary components which include frame fasteners, links, hinges, handles, locks, feet, wheels, doors and conveyor parts.

A full range of linear and rotary automated positioning stages for single- or multi-axis configuration can also be integrated, together with a long list of electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic components. The range also covers linear bearings, guides, motors and transmission elements for pick-and-place and automated handing applications. If required, MiniTec can also provide complete turn-key assemblies and the entire range is supported with tools and attachments to simplify assembly, save time and reduce costs.
