David Lockett to lead Altra's coupling activity in Europe
David Lockett has been appointed as the new MD of Bibby Turboflex and Huco, two of the global power transmission brands in the Altra Industrial Motion portfolio, both with manufacturing sites in the UK. His responsibility will stretch to overseeing the growth of Altra's industrial coupling activity in Europe which includes the TB Woods and Ameridrives brands. Through the promotion of each of the brands' distinct capabilities, David hopes to increase commercial awareness of Altra's broad range of products.
TB Woods, Ameridrives, Bibby Turboflex and Huco Dynatork business units have each developed reputations as leaders in coupling technology, each specialising in a distinctive field of applications. They have now been brought together by Altra Industrial Motion, under the umbrella of Altra Couplings division, to provide customers with easier access to an unrivalled breadth of product and expertise.
David Lockett comments: "Each brand within Altra Couplings is a market leader in its own industry sector or niche. Each unit has many years of experience in the complete product lifecycle; from product design and manufacture, to installation and maintenance and eventually replacement. The decision to bring the brands together as Altra Couplings was made to ensure customers have access to the combined knowledge and global support structure of all four brands."
The available product range is now very broad, stretching from small-sized precision couplings from Huco Dynatork that are suitable for applications such as positioning systems, connecting small motors, shafts, drives and servo systems, through to large industrial couplings with capacities exceeding 600kNm, which are found alongside pumps, winches and even gas turbines, generators and offshore platforms. Disc couplings, which accommodate miss-alignment, and elastomeric couplings, for vibrating applications are also available, as well as associated products such as torque limiters and locking devices.

David, who has a mechanical engineering degree and an MBA, has been employed at Huco for 14 years. Since 2002 he has been responsible for developing the company's global business and promoting its product range. He now has responsibility for overseeing both manufacturing plants and the sales growth of Altra Coupling's activity in Europe; he is relishing the challenge.
