Igus has developed a lubricant-free toothed belt drive specifically for the low-cost sector. Suitable for high-speed positioning of small loads of up to 15kg, the new DryLin ZLW-0630 Basic linear unit is compact, lightweight and a fast alternative to lead screw drives or pneumatic cylinders. The 500mm stroke version of the maintenance- and corrosion-free lightweight unit weighs only 800g, but customers can specify any stroke of up to 1000mm.
Both the guide profile and the carriage plate are made of anodised aluminium, with the low weight helping to minimise inertia. The housings on the ends of the belt drive are made of igumid G, an impact-resistant polymer. Parts of the drive system and the sprockets are also made with tribo-optimised Igus polymers. The glass fibre-reinforced toothed belt is made of neoprene for extremely quiet, low-vibration running. The pulleys in the end blocks run directly in high-quality deep groove ball bearings. Alternatively, plastic plain bearings can be used to enable the toothed belt shaft to be used under water without corrosion. Accessories such as fastening clamps and motor flanges complement the range.
Igus has designed the toothed belt drive around the proven DryLin W linear guide system. Four polymer gliders made of iglidur J ensure quiet and smooth speeds of up to 2.5m/s, making the units suitable for tasks in the field of format adjustment, handling and automation.
The flat and robust linear units can be assembled easily in a number of different ways thanks to grooves in the aluminium profiles. Sensors and other equipment can also be mounted very easily.
Finally, the new DryLin ZLW toothed belt drive in the size 0630 Basic is available for delivery within three to four days.
