Embedded platforms powered by 4th Gen Intel Core U processors
Advantech is launching its latest platforms based on the 4th generation Intel Core U processors including Computer On Modules, Single Board Computers, Industrial Motherboards, and Fanless Embedded Box PCs. Featuring GT3 graphics performance and 15W Low Thermal Design Power (TDP), the new platforms are suitable for portable, battery-operated applications with high graphic requirements, such as medical imaging, digital signage, gaming and more.
In June 2013, Intel debuted their 4th generation Core architecture with improvements in CPU processing, graphics and security capabilities. Today, the new 4th generation Intel Core U processor line, including i7/i5/i3 processors and Celeron, are a 1-chip BGA (Ball Grid Array) chipset that integrates the CPU with the PCH, resulting in a lower TDP (15W) compared with the 3rd generation Core processors. The new platform also supports improved GT3 graphics for 24 per cent better 3D media and display performance when compared with the previous generation platforms. Its low-power, low-profile design structure has allowed system integrators to build compact systems more easily without worrying about heat limitations.
To meet such requirements, Advantech has developed a series of industrial-grade embedded boards and systems such as the COM Express Compact modul""SOM-6894; MIO-5271""3.5" MI/O Extension Single Board Computer;the Thin Mini-ITX Motherboard ""AIMB-230; and the slim fanless Embedded Box PC""ARK-1550.
Compatible with COM R2.1 Type 6 pin-out and designed with the new 4th generation Intel Core i7-4650U vPro, i5-4300U vPro, i3-4010U processors, and Intel Celeron processor 2980U, SOM-6894 takes up around 24 per cent less space and gives 15 per cent CPU performance increase and better GT3 graphics performance. It also features up to 16 GB of DDR3L 1600 MHz non-ECC unbuffered memory.
Measuring 146 × 102mm, MIO-5271 employs the new 4th gen. Intel Core i5-4300U vPro / Intel Celeron 2980U processors. It comes in a compact size with a fanless thermal feature and a rich set of I/O functions for easier system integration such as 2 × Mini PCIe, 1 × SIM, and 1 × MIOe for smart expansion. MIO-5271 delivers a better graphics and media experience for users than previous versions. Triple independent display connectors for 48-bit LVDS, VGA, HDMI/DP are also available for multi-display interface applications. MIO-5271 deploys a concentrated thermal design on the top side only, dispersing heat via the heatsink or the heat spreader with better results, which simplifies system development process.
Designed with the new 4th gen. Intel Core processors i5-4300U/Celeron 2980U, AIMB-230 offers exceptional CPU and GT3 media performance and low power usage in a 2.5mm height all-in-one board. Using a low-profile design (170 × 170mm) than standard Mini-ITX motherboards, AIMB-230 is compatible with under 1U chassis.
Powered by the new 4th gen. Intel Core i5 4300U /Celeron 2025U processors, ARK-1550 is a panel-mountable fanless slim-type embedded box PC (223 × 46.6 × 133.0mm). ARK-1550 reserves delivers rich IO, such as 2 × GbE, 8-bit GPIO, 2 × USB 3.0, 2 × USB2.0, 3 × Serial Ports, 2 × Mini PCIe slots, triple independent displays (LVDS+VGA+HDMI) and supports 1 × removable 2.5" drive bay. Besides its flexible IO design, it also supports a -20degC to 60degC-wide temperature range operation and VESA, DIN Rail and wallmount options for easy mounting integration.
