Eriks is to create a purpose-built 15,000 square-foot 'superbranch' in Leeds by moving operations from two existing premises in the city, thereby providing its customers with an even more integrated and extended service.
Eriks' Industrial Distribution Service Centre will combine with the company's Electro Mechanical Service Centre at the new operating site in October 2011. The move will enable Eriks to expand its wide range of services for the provision and maintenance of machine parts - for example, motors, bearings and fans - and to broaden its capability in other areas such as the supply and maintenance of pumps. The latter will include a dedicated pump service, with the new Leeds facility becoming a Core Competence Centre for pump repairs.
Bob Taylor, the Manager of the Electro Mechanical Service Centre, explains why the expansion is so important: "The new site means larger premises, greater opportunities, more capability and an increased level of service. For example, we will now have two overhead cranes, so will be able to carry out repairs on larger machines that previously would have had to be transported to our site in Chesterfield. As a result, we will be able to save both time and cost for our local customers."
Jim Dourish, the Regional Operations Director, says that the reprofiled and expanded stocks of the new site will benefit the engineering sector in Leeds and the surrounding area: "We will truly be a 24/7, 365-days-a-year service and our increased stock range and skill sets will enable some extremely fast response times; for example, we will have the parts and capacity on site to build and supply hydraulic hose assemblies in under an hour. The new site will really add value for our customers and the planning is in place for further growth once we have launched in October."
The distribution service at the new centre will launch on 3 October 2011, with the repairs and maintenance operation following later in the month.
