ESAB launches Buddy Arc entry-level arc welding machines
ESAB is launching the Buddy Arc 145 and Buddy Arc 180 entry-level arc welding machines. The Buddy Arc 145 delivers 145A at 25.8V on a 15 per cent duty cycle, or 70A at 22.8V on a 60 per cent duty cycle. Typical applications for this stick welding machine include plant fabrication and maintenance, site maintenance and repair, civil construction, general fabrication, and agricultural fabrication and repairs.
ESAB has designed the Buddy Arc 145 to be very lightweight, so at 3.6kg it is of a similar weight to a wide-screen laptop computer. Versatility is further enhanced by the machine's ability to operate via extended mains cables or from a generator set. Most electrodes from 1.6mm to 2.4mm diameter can be used (and some 3.2mm diameter), and the control panel features a single knob for setting the welding current.
As well as being suitable for stick welding (MMA welding), the slightly larger Buddy Arc 180 can also be used for Tig welding. Furthermore, this machine has a hot start function and automatic arc force adjustment for improved welding performance and ease of use.
The Buddy Arc 180 delivers 180A at 27.2V on a 30 per cent duty cycle, or 130A at 25.2V on a 60 per cent duty cycle. As with the Buddy Arc 145, this unit can operate via extended mains cables or from a generator set. Typical applications are similar to those for the Buddy Arc 145 but the larger model offers the additional opportunity for Tig welding mild steel or stainless steel with or without filler material.
Both Buddy Arc models have a very efficient fan for cooling the electronics, plus three heat sinks and a thermal protection circuit, features which help to ensure a long, trouble-free operating life. State-of-the-art welding performance is provided by means of high-grade IGBT technology.
