Fanuc Robotics is introducing a new vision system that integrates directly with its RJ3iC controller. The Fanuc iRVision system, being shown at the 2007 Machine Building show, is designed to reduce installation time and cost, and to make vision integration with robot systems a straightforward process.
No additional hardware - other than a camera - is required to integrate both 2D and 3D vision with Fanuc's RJ3iC controller. The iRVision system manages all image processing using the robot controller's CPU, thereby saving the expense and complexity associated with integrating an external PC and associated software.
Set-up involves connecting the camera directly to the controller and loading the vision software. Integration is then enabled by connecting directly to the robot's own secure Fanuc web server that provides specific intuitive information to complete the set-up.
A clear camera image and programming data are displayed on Fanuc's intelligent I-Pendant, making it easy for installation engineers to access information. In addition to being used for programming data, the I-Pendant provides a run-time display function on its monitor, logging 'time to find' and positional information.
