FANUC to illustrate efficiencies of its common control platform

At MACH 14, FANUC UK will demonstrate higher speed, faster acceleration, increased accuracy and the resultant reduced cycle times offered through its latest generation of CNC controller, the 31 i-B5 control system. ROBODRILL ±-DiA series vertical machining centres will be used to illustrate operation cycle times and finish on real components.

FANUC to illustrate efficiencies of its common control platform

Further illustrating the power of the common control platform, FANUC robots will illustrate flexibility and ease of integration with ROBODRILL machines. In addition, a FANUC 30T ROBOSHOT injection moulding press and a ROBOCUT EDM machine will further illustrate FANUC's line up of machine tools, robots and CNC control products.

Centre stage will be the recently launched FANUC ROBODRILL ±-DiA series vertical machining centre integrated with a FANUC LRMate robot loading and unloading a machined component. Now offering standard and high-power spindle versions, improved chip discharging, thermal displacement compensation and higher-resolution axis feed, the ROBODRILL focuses on features that reduce cycle times, improve surface finish and increase accuracy.

To illustrate cycle time reduction a ROBODRILL machine will cycle through the machining of an automotive crankcase. FANUC's FSSB High-speed rigid tapping achieves both high speed and high precision by controlling maximum acceleration power of the spindle motor. Rapid traverse block overlap shortens cycle times in programs with many positioning commands. The integration of FANUC's DDR-T indexer further supports reduced cycle times by its high-speed operation and high accuracy.

A wide range of FANUC CNC controllers will be demonstrated including the Power Motion i-Model A for motion control of a wide range of OEM and machine builder applications where positioning and high performance PLC functions are required.
