Find out how to save energy with Atlas Copco Compressors

Atlas Copco Compressors will be focusing on saving energy and money by showcasing its Retrofit Energy Recovery solutions, Connectivity and Optimisation products, and its Compressed Air Audit at The Energy Event 2010, which takes place at the National Motorcycle Museum on 8/9 September 2010. In addition, the company will be exhibiting its ranges of Carbon Zero and VSD air compressors, and visitors to Atlas Copco's stand (number 138) can collect a FREE Energy Saving CD and Compressed Air Manual.

Carbon Zero air compressors are equipped with advanced heat recovery systems that are capable of recovering 100 per cent of the electrical energy input. Atlas Copco's ZR 56-750 Carbon Zero range of oil-free compressors was certified 'net zero consumption' following independent tests supervised by the TUV Institute.

The Carbon Zero innovation provides effective heat transfer within specific design conditions so that a considerable proportion of the electrical power input can be recovered in the form of hot water at 90degC. The breakthrough has been made possible by a combination of technological advances in high-efficiency components, heat exchangers, compressor elements and integrated variable-speed drives.

Atlas Copco's redesigned, smallest oil-injected screw compressor range - the GA 5-11/GA 5-15 VSD - offers advantages in terms of energy usage and performance. This latest range offers a host of innovative features, including: a new-generation compression element, an eight per cent increase in air delivery (with consequent power savings), noise levels as low as 60dB(A), new VSD voltage variants, and a new Elektronikon controller to optimise performance.

To keep compressed air systems operating at peak efficiency, Atlas Copco's free Health Check service, AIRScan, is a highly accurate, independent airnet survey report system that pinpoints any energy drains. In addition, AIRConnect is an automated 24/7 Internet-based remote monitoring system for multiple stationary compressor installations that monitors, measures and manages an entire compressed air network to help improve productivity.

Free CD and manual

Visitors to Atlas Copco's stand at The Energy Event can receive a free, completely revised and updated edition of the company's energy-savings CD, the Definitive Guide to Compressed Air Energy Savings. The CD presents all that a company needs to know about variable-speed drive compressors, electronic controllers, leak detection and control, AIRScan surveys, air management surveys, money-saving preventative maintenance programmes, and much more - such as compressor sizing, energy recovery methods and air treatment, where considerable energy savings can be made with today's ultra-efficient air dryers.

As both a textbook for newcomers and a reference book for more experienced users, the 7th edition of the Compressed Air Manual addresses the theoretical and practical issues faced by anyone working with compressed air on a day-to-day basis and provides facts about products and systems, data, advice and tips for optimum performance. Written by professional technicians, the manual has six main chapters: Theory; Compressors and auxiliary equipment; Dimensioning and servicing compressor installations; Economy; Calculation example; and ten pages of Appendices.
