Free regulatory advice at Total Processing and Packaging

As its official partner for regulatory affairs, the Laidler Group will be supporting the PPMA (Process and Packaging Machinery Association) at the forthcoming Total Processing and Packaging exhibition (25-27 May 2010, NEC, Birmingham). Experts from Laidler Associates, one of the UK's leading safety and compliance consultants, will join those from Safety Systems, the independent machinery safety design and installation specialist, on the PPMA stand (number 5532), where they will be available to answer visitors' questions.

The Laidler Group is the PPMA's preferred supplier of technical consultancy services relating to regulatory matters and, as such, it offers a range of advisory and consulting services including free telephone/email support for members of the PPMA. Visitors to the stand will be able to pick up a free copy of the book A Practical Guide to Machinery Safety, as well as learning more about the mCom Risk Management Software System.

Laidler says that the latest version of the software has been updated to cover the requirements of the new Machinery Directive, 2006/42/EC, and other enhancements include an option for users to decide whether they work to ISO EN 13849-1 or EN 954-1 for the safety of machinery.

Speaking about his expectations of the issues that visitors to the exhibition will be concerned about, Paul Laidler, managing director of the Laidler Group, says: "As there was a good deal of confusion around the introduction of the new Machinery Directive at the end of 2009 I think many enquiries will be about this. From speaking to people in industry I have found that, if people are aware of the new directive at all, then they are worried about whether they should be complying with ISO EN 13849-1 or EN 954-1. From speaking to us at the exhibition we will be able to quickly help set them on the right course of action."
