Gina Citroni becomes Amplicon's new Managing Director
Amplicon managing director Tony Gorbold has sold his share holding in the company to Gina Citroni, the current commercial director, and other shareholder of the business. The deal was completed on 30 April 2009.
Gorbold, who started his career with Amplicon in 1974, was instrumental in Amplicon's early growth and success. During his time in the company, he has worked in most areas of the business. In his final years, he has overseen the accounts department and controlled the facilities and IT, dealing with the day-to-day management of these areas. He has seen the company grow from 4 to 40 staff, and a current turnover of some 8million.
Gina Citroni, who now takes total control of the business, joined Amplicon in 2001 as purchasing manager and was quickly promoted to commercial manager in 2002 and then to the board as commercial director in July 2004. She was part of the original MBO team in March 2005 and is responsible for the rise of the business from a small local enterprise to a world-renowned electronic product provider. Citroni comments: "My pathway to the top has not been easy, but I am looking forward to driving the business forward to our goal of 50million in turnover during the coming 10 years. I have a young, intelligent and energetic team and I owe them success!"
