Harwin has announced that its Gecko family of 1.25mm pitch hi-rel connectors has been awarded the 2013 Elektra Product of the Year Award in the Passive & Electromechanical category.
Harwin's Scott Flower, Product Manager - Gecko Connectors, who is also the chief designer of the Gecko family, received the award at a Gala celebration night at London's prestigious Grosvenor House Hotel, hosted by Elektra organisers, Electronics Weekly.
Flower comments: "We are delighted that Gecko has been received so positively in the market and I would like to accept this award on behalf of the entire team back in Portsmouth. Winning an Elektra is a validation of Harwin's policy of keeping all key design and manufacturing processes in the UK. To win against such stiff competition makes this award even more special and I would like to thank Electronics Weekly on behalf of all my colleagues at Harwin for putting on such a wonderful event."
Harwin's low-profile G125 series connectors are designed to offer high performance in a miniature package. The 1.25mm pin spacing results in a 35 per cent space saving over other high-performance connectors such as Micro-D. The connectors also accommodate 2.8A per contact in isolation and 2A simultaneously at 25degC. Tested and proven to allow high performance in extreme conditions, the G125 family can operate within a wide temperature range (-65 to +150degC) and under extreme vibration (Z axis 100g 6m/s). This high performance is made possible by Harwin's four-finger patented Copper Alloy contact.
