HBM's T10FH torque flanges now have ATEX approval, which necessitated modifications and adaptations to the electronics. In a typical application, one of these torque transducers would be integrated directly between a drive and a machine to determine precisely the machine's performance.
The modified T10FH transducer is now available with ATEX approval ll 2G EEx d e q IIC T4. It can be used in Zone 1 and has a nominal (rated) measuring range of up to 150kNm.
Data transmission between the rotor and the stator is digital, so that secure, error-free measured value acquisition and transmission is possible even under difficult ambient conditions - for example, where there is electromagnetic interference or fluctuating temperatures.
A typical application for the T10FH-ATEX torque transducer is in controlling gas engines for gas compressor systems. These are used, for example, in the compressor stations of gas pipelines or subterranean gas caverns. Rapid and accurate regulation of the engine is essential, as the pressure in the pipeline fluctuates because of changing operating parameters. The T10FH-ATEX torque transducer effectively protects the drive against damage, and also helps to reduce fuel consumption.
The highly accurate torque data can be used to monitor the system status and ensure optimised maintenance intervals as part of a condition-based monitoring programme.
HBM also provides T10FH torque flanges without ATEX approval for nominal (rated) torques of up to 300 kNm.
