Integrated PLC/HMI now available with 15.6inch touch screen
Unitronics has introduced the third model in its range of UniStream integrated PLC/HMI machine controllers, namely the UniStream 15.6inch. The Unistream15 is a colour touchscreen with 1366 x 768 pixel resolution and 16M colours. This new 15.6inch model complements the UniStream 7inch and 10inch HMI panels.
The UniStream line is the result of over 20 years of experience with PLC development, and closely follows the latest trends in industrial automation. UniStream all-in-one PLC/HMI products feature powerful dual CPUs, sleek HMI touch panels and a choice of I/O. Users can therefore specify a customised, machine or process controller simply by adding the CPU and I/O modules to their chosen HMI. Unitronics says that UniStream gives machine builders, OEMs and systems integrators a competitive edge by enabling them to cut costs, save space and significantly reduce programming time.
Free intuitive programming software and support
One of the major advantages of the UniStream products is that they are easy and quick to program using the free UniLogic studio software package. This intuitive software is said to cut programming time by 50 per cent by predicting the programmer's intentions and reusing written code. Programmers build a library of user-defined function blocks and HMI screens that can be reused in new projects or shared with other programmers. The software's predictive capabilities save a significant amount of time when defining I/O points, PIDs and other functions. Other features in UniLogic studio that help to simplify and accelerate programming are drag-and-drop, automatic line creation and reuse options for existing code.
In terms of connectivity, UniStream units support RS485, CANopen, UniCAN and MODBUS (serial and Ethernet). Furthermore, Unistream can also adapt to third-party protocols, and the USB and serial ports support external devices such as modems, printers and barcode readers.
Recent additions to the UniStream's capabilities include a video player and new HMI widgets. Unitronics has also introduced a PDF Viewer so that users can read PDF files on the HMI panel. Other features include attractive polished-looking gauges, and support for Find & Replace tags.
