Intelligent pump control via multi Ethernet interface

Bosch Rexroth is introducing a new range of intelligent pump controllers which offer unrivalled performance and flexibility as well as readiness for Industry 4.0, across a broad spectrum of applications, both with and without control cabinets.

Intelligent pump control via multi Ethernet interface

Delivering the appropriate pressure and flow rate adjustment for hydraulic pumps, the new technologies optimise both control quality and energy efficiency.

The cabinet-based Hydraulic Pump Control (HPC) control electronics and SY(H)DFED system - which is fully integrated into the valve - are both compatible with a wide range of automation structures through a multi Ethernet interface. In each case, the IndraWorks multi-technology engineering environment simplifies commissioning with software assistants and predefined technology functions.

It has been well established that digitally regulated variable displacement pumps deliver noticeable improvements in dynamics and precision in the motion sequences for hydraulic systems. The new Rexroth technologies feature intelligent digital controllers which, as well as regulating pumps, assist in reducing installed power and load peaks in power consumption. Meanwhile, average power consumption is reduced through precise swivel angle and pressure controls.

With switchable multi Ethernet interfaces for sercos, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET RT, EtherCat, Varan, POWERLINK and optionally for Profibus for the HPC, the controllers fit future-proof into a wide range of automation structures - making them suitable for facilities seeking to embrace Industry 4.0.

Wizard-supported assistance functions carry out commissioning through the IndraWorks engineering environment. For most applications, functions already predefined in the software for swivel angle and pressure control, torque limitation and Master/slave, replace laborious programming through parametrisation. Meanwhile, integrated monitoring functions optimise availability and simplify error diagnosis.

Users can access information and operating status in real time, irrespective of their location via an Ethernet TCP/IP service interface. With electronics fully integrated into the valve, SY(H)DFED can assume control of A10 type Rexroth axial piston variable displacement pumps.

The HPC controls axial piston variable displacement pumps in the A4 series for nominal pressures of up to 350 bar and a displacement of up to 1000ccm. As a control cabinet variant, it is particularly suitable for applications operating under demanding environmental conditions such as metallurgy, presses, forming technology, marine and offshore. For this reason, it has been designed to cover an expanded working temperature range from -20degC to +60degC.

The high-response valve for the HPC is so precise that there is no requirement for a specific position feedback function, reducing wiring. In contrast to many other control electronics for hydraulics, engineers can connect the sensors for the HPC, as well as the SY(H)DFED, without time-consuming and error-prone soldering, using a pre-assembled cable with M12 connector. Users can also retrofit both motion controls into existing hydraulic systems with Rexroth axial piston pumps with minimal effort.
